What Can’t You Do During a Hot Air Balloon Flight?

Important rules and safety guidelines to ensure a smooth and enjoyable ballooning experience.

When you’re soaring through the skies in a hot air balloon over Vilnius or Trakai, safety becomes everyone’s responsibility — yours, your fellow passengers’, and your pilot’s. Unlike airplanes, hot air balloons have open baskets with no seat belts or walls. This means that behavior during the flight must be extra cautious and respectful.

To help everyone enjoy their experience, we strictly prohibit the following actions during a balloon ride:

What You Must Not Do:

  • Throw any objects from the balloon basket – Even small items can be hazardous from height.

  • Climb, lean, or attempt to exit the basket – Stay safely inside at all times.

  • Consume alcohol during the flight – This can impair balance, judgment, and awareness.

  • Smoke or vape – The use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or vapes is forbidden near gas burners and propane tanks.

  • Behave recklessly or aggressively – Any behavior that puts others at risk will result in flight cancellation or early landing.

  • Ignore the pilot’s instructions – The pilot is the only authority during flight and decisions must be followed without question.

Why These Rules Matter:

Ballooning is not like a typical vehicle ride. Once you're in the air, there are no exits, no barriers, and no room for error. Any unsafe behavior could not only ruin the experience — it could put lives at risk.

Passengers are expected to remain calm and stand securely inside the basket. Sudden movements or jokes like pretending to jump out may sound funny, but they’re dangerous. If your behavior disrupts the flight, the pilot has full authority to land early and refuse further service.

Final Tip:

Listen carefully to the pre-flight briefing. It’s designed to keep you informed and safe.
Our goal is to deliver not just a safe hot air balloon experience, but an unforgettable, joyful one.
